ADT Sequencing Sandbox

Interactive simulation utility for testing and validating admission, discharge, and transfer event logic before deployment.

ADT Sequencing Sandbox

The ADT Sequencing Sandbox enables HIM, clinical operations, and build teams to simulate, test, and validate admission, discharge, and transfer logic in a safe, visual environment before production rollout. Using a drag-and-drop interface, users can design and rearrange ADT event flows, inject delays, and observe downstream effects on rounding lists, documentation timing, and bed turnover, ensuring that policy, workflow, and system build remain aligned.

Ideal for “table-top” simulations, the sandbox allows multidisciplinary groups to test sequencing logic, identify friction points, and reach operational consensus prior to configuration changes. It turns ADT design into a collaborative exercise that blends HIM precision with clinical workflow awareness.

Benefits

  • Reduces rollout risk: Detects sequencing errors and workflow collisions before EMR build or migration.
  • Improves clarity and coordination: Visualizes patient movement and associated documentation triggers across departments.
  • Enables proactive optimization: Models throughput and LOS impact before deployment to guide operational decisions.
  • Supports iterative design: Encourages rapid testing, stakeholder review, and scenario-based refinement.
  • Bridges policy and implementation: Keeps technical build logic synchronized with operational intent and compliance rules.

Capabilities

  • Drag-and-drop event modeling: Build and reorder ADT sequences (A01, A02, A03, A08, A11, A13, A40, etc.).
  • Scenario simulation: Inject artificial delays or failure points to observe LOS, documentation, and access impact.
  • Dependency mapping: Link ADT triggers to rounding lists, order workflows, and access control logic.
  • Bottleneck visualization: View timeline heat maps showing event friction and overlapping triggers.
  • Validation toolkit: Compare proposed sequences against organizational policy, FHIR Encounter flows, and existing HL7 configurations.
  • Collaboration workspace: Supports shared editing, versioning, and annotation during multidisciplinary review sessions.

Great for

  • Clinical Operations Facilitators: Conduct table-top simulations to expose friction points and align ADT logic with rounding and documentation workflows.
  • HIM and Patient Administration Analysts: Validate sequencing and test edge cases before rollout to minimize downstream errors and rework.
  • Build and Configuration Teams: Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure EMR event logic and technical build match operational policies.
  • Quality and Governance Leads: Document pre-deployment validation evidence to support audit readiness and change-management traceability.

Integration & Standards Alignment

  • Supports HL7 v2.x ADT event sequencing (A01–A40)
  • Maps to FHIR Encounter, EpisodeOfCare, and Task resources for modern interoperability
  • Aligns with IHE PCC and ITI profiles for patient movement and workflow orchestration
  • Configurable for site-specific LOS, access, and discharge logic
  • Captures sandbox session output as reusable documentation for governance archives

Outcome Metrics

  • ↓ reduction in ADT-related post-go-live corrections
  • ↑ improvement in cross-department design consensus
  • ↓ reduction in patient flow-related configuration rework
