The Consults Orchestrator coordinates the entire inpatient consult process, from initial request to completion, ensuring every consult is acknowledged, assigned, and completed within defined service-level targets. It automatically routes consults to the correct on-call or covering provider based on specialty, schedule, and location, while tracking turnaround and response times across the enterprise.

When a consult is initiated, the system validates coverage rules, creates the task in the EMR, and starts a timer for acknowledgment. If the consult isn’t accepted within the SLA, escalation logic reassigns or notifies backup coverage. Real-time EMR synchronization keeps nurses, physicians, and coordinators aligned without duplicate paging or follow-up calls.
