Cardiology Data Integrity Validator

Cardiology Data Integrity Validator

Automated validation engine for detecting missing, duplicate, or conflicting data within cardiac results and structured observations ingested into the EMR.
Cardiology Data Integrity Validator
Cardiology Data Integrity Validator

The Cardiology Data Integrity Validator continuously inspects cardiac data streams, such as structured echo, EKG, and cath reports, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across EMR systems. It applies configurable rule sets and thresholds to flag missing values, conflicting observations, and duplicate entries before they affect flowsheets, registries, or analytics.

By combining a validation rule engine with exception queues and audit-ready provenance tracking, this tool strengthens trust in cardiac data pipelines and supports safe clinical decision-making downstream. It can be used as part of nightly data sweeps, HL7/FHIR ingestion pipelines, or EMR-integrated dashboards.

Benefits

  • Improved data reliability: Ensures cardiac measurements, timestamps, and identifiers are accurate and non-conflicting.
  • Cleaner clinical documentation: Reduces duplicate or inconsistent values in flowsheets, reports, and problem lists.
  • Audit and compliance support: Maintains provenance trails for all detected exceptions and corrections.
  • Analytics confidence: Strengthens the foundation for outcomes reporting and quality metric calculations.

Capabilities

  • Rule engine and thresholds: Configurable validation logic for Observation and DiagnosticReport consistency, completeness, and value integrity.
  • Exception queue and correction workflow: Flags anomalies for HIM or analyst review, with comment and remediation tracking.
  • Evidence and provenance capture: Records validation results, rule triggers, and source data lineage for defensible auditability.
  • Integration-ready design: Deployable as part of HL7 v2, FHIR R4, or hybrid ingestion pipelines with downstream notifications.

Great for

  • Cardiology Service Line Leads and Procedural Teams: Detect and correct structured data anomalies before they impact reporting or clinical decisions.
  • Health Information Management (HIM) and Data Quality Officers: Govern cardiac data integrity rules, monitor exceptions, and ensure audit-backed provenance across reports and flowsheets.
  • Clinical Informatics and EMR Analysts: Manage Observation and DiagnosticReport validation logic and automate correction workflows tied to ingestion events.
  • Integration and Interoperability Teams: Embed validation checkpoints into HL7 and FHIR data flows to maintain accuracy and compliance in multi-system cardiac data exchanges.

Interops Team deploys FHIR-based validation pipelines that inspect Observation and DiagnosticReport resources for completeness, duplication, and conflict patterns, preserving provenance and compliance with ONC and HIMSS data integrity standards.
